Last concert of the season
It was wonderful to see St John's Church packed again, as we all very much enjoyed the young, talented musicians from Wellington School. Sadly, my talents as a photographer didn't match those of the students, so please forgive me for the poor picture quality!
This was the last of this year's programme, which has been a resounding success as a showcase for local musicians and bringing much needed funds, not just to the Church but to a number of charities too, such as BRACE, this month's chosen charity.
As sponsors, we feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to play our small part. On behalf of the audience, may we offer a big thank you to Mary and Liz for their sterling efforts, providing us with high quality entertainment throughout the year. We wish the Church every success throughout the busy festive period (for more information click here) and look forward in particular, to Carols at Lunchtime, Friday 8th December.
Another quality concert
A delighted audience nearly 100 strong thoroughly enjoyed the latest Music at Lunchtime event at St John's Church, Taunton. Students from Queens College performed 'A Musical Feast' and the title wasn't wrong!
Proceeds of the event were shared with Stand Against Voilence, who's representative Paula Sudbury (pictured far left) made a very passionate speech. Orgainser Mary Elliott said 'We were again grateful to Invest Southwest's support and were very pleased with the great turnout of our concert lovers'.
The last of this year's concerts takes place 10th November, with Wellington School students performing A Young Musicians Showcase. It is free entry and shouldn't be missed.

Very sad news
We have been informed that our good friend Giles Betts has passed away.
Barely a year has passed since Giles decided to leave not just Invest Southwest, but the finance industry completely, to search for pastures new.
We are devastated with the news and our thoughts are with his loved ones.
St John's Music at Lunchtime
A packed St John's Church was treated to a musical feast by four wonderfully talented, young local singers.
The programme ranged from 17 year old Gregory Steward's Amarilli mia bella, to folk songs sung by 14 year old Amelie Ceridwen Lloydd and resoundly finished off with a musical theatre extavaganza from Louisa Everett and 18 year old Imi Sanders-Dutton.
Invest Southwest General Manger Andy Ward said 'I can't believe it. Only yesterday I was watching my daughter Amie collect a first class honours degree for Musical Theatre from the Guildford School of Acting and here I am today watching these wonderful young people, perhaps embarking on the same journey.
Well done to St John's (www.stjohnstaunton.org.uk) for another fine concert, to the accompanists Katy Davies and Mark Shelvey, Taunton Festival of the Arts (www.tauntonfestival.org.uk/) and of course the singers'.

The magnificent seven
Ilminster Bowls club have two reasons to celebrate. Firstly, the club proudly hosted the Somerset U25 team and secondly, the County team included no less than 7 of their playing members.
Club member Matt Hamilton kindly sent this photograph to our South Somerset adviser Richard Clarke saying 'we are sending this photo to the paper so we hope we can get publicity for you as a great sponsor of the club and the support you have given us every year'.

Live screening of the Royal Opera House in Taunton
In addition to being the main sponsors of the Brewhouse, we are also sponsors of the live screening of opera and ballet, offering local access to wonderful performances that would otherwise be difficult and expensive to attend. The latest screening was Verdi's Otello at the Royal Opera House, featuring the debut of the highly acclaimed Jonas Kaufmann.
Andy Ward, General Manager of Invest Southwest said 'to be honest, having never been to an opera performance, I was a little unsure of what to expect, but I am pleased to say I was totally captivated and 3 hours passed by in a flash. Not only did it feel like I was actually at the Opera House, to me, one of the added benefits of the live screening was that I was able to see every facial expression. Further, bearing in mind I am a complete novice, the subtitles on screen helped me follow and understand the performance. I think that it was this that made the show even more captivating'.

Infinity Pool at the Brewhouse
Our Will Writer Jo Browne, seen here with her husband Jeremy, attended the Infinity Pool performance by Bea Roberts at the Brewhouse.

As main sponsors of the Brewhouse, we are really pleased they staged an excellent show and that Jo and Jeremy were there to appreciate it.

Margaret said:“When I accepted the initial task with Will Management Services it was to populate a new data base and I thought to myself, well, I will give it three months and see whether this is for me......eight years have now passed – in a flash – but now it is time for me to retire. I am delighted to see how successful we have become and I am proud to have played a part. It has been a pleasure working with a wonderful team and I leave knowing that all bodes well for the future”.
Margaret concluded by thanking both David Penny and Linda Fisher for their guidance, support, generosity and kindness. She will be sadly missed.
